2011 Bendigo Bank Southern Art & Craft Trail
|
During the award-winning Bendigo Bank Southern Art and Craft Trail more than sixty venues will present exhibitions of fine art and craft in various display spaces such as galleries, studios, wineries, restaurants, community halls and retail outlets in a wide area of the Great Southern region of Western Australia.
The Art Trail was awarded the W.A. Premier's Australia Day Active Citizenship Award for an Event in 2010 and has become one of the region's premier cultural tourism attractions with around 8000 people touring during the 16-day program.
Visitors can see painting, sculpture, woodcraft, jewellery, pottery, studio glass, textile and fibre art, photography and a host of other art and craft disciplines. More than 300 artists living and working in the twelve local government areas of the Great Southern will be represented.
This year a special trail of public artworks will again be presented as part of the main event. These artworks have been commissioned by local authorities, State Government and corporate bodies, and are in varied artforms and mediums. In addition, many artists will demonstrate their art and craft in their studios and a series of special workshops will be presented as part of the event program.
Free guide books will be available from regional visitor centres, libraries, participating venues and other tourist outlets at the beginning of September 2011. Until the 2011 program is available you can view the 2010 program of exhibitions by clicking here

Artsouthwa Workshop Program
"Thinking Outside the Box" - A two-day workshop by award-winning watercolour artist Pam Eddy.
Pam Eddy is a member of the Water Colour Society of W.A. and she will challenge you by leading you through two different and exciting ways of handling watercolours. The sessions are designed with beginners in mind, but provide an opportunity for those who are more experienced to extend their skills. The workshops have the potential to take you away from your comfort zone and motivate you to approach your work with new creativity and excitement.
Day 1 Saturday 22nd October 2011
Flamboyant Watercolours - Strong rich colours, mixed right on the paper, combined with masking and lift-off techniques. A whole new approach with dramatic results!
Day 2 Sunday 23rd October 2011
White Paper Techniques - A change of pace, with concentration on depicting the subject matter through utilising the white of the paper. Not just a demonstration but personal assistance and help in design, composition and application. A minimalistic approach for a different and pleasing result!
Each day will conclude with an entertaining but informative feedback session.
